Birdstep to offer the market leading Alice Connectivity Engine™ (ACE) to the OEM market by launching it as a Software Development Kit (SDK)

Oslo/Stockholm - February 15th, 2005 - Birdstep Technology today announced it will offer the Alice Connectivity Engine™ Software Development Kit (ACE SDK) to meet the increasing demand by application vendors to include the well known ACE connectivity solution into their offering. This core product has been the key of Alice Systems success in penetrating the cellular operator market. The ACE SDK contains a set of functions and components enabling rapid software development of high-quality applications relying on robust and efficient connectivity. It manages the set-up and maintenance of network connections and supports a wide range of mobile terminals and network adapters such as mobile phones, PC-Cards, and computers with inbuilt Intel Centrino chipsets. The ACE SDK provides ease of connectivity to mobile 2G and 3G radio access technologies, WiFi, and Ethernet network bearers. This SDK enables Birdstep Technology partners to offer a robust network connectivity engine that can easily integrate with complementary components and applications.

This is Birdstep Technology's first product launch of technology obtained through the acquisition of Alice Systems, a provider of leading mobility and connectivity client solutions. The ACE SDK is compatible with the current version of the Alice Client Manager™, deployed to over 1,000,000 users through a large customer base of over 30 operators worldwide. The use of the ACE SDK permits infrastructure vendors, network component vendors, device manufacturers, and application developers to capitalize on the advanced network connectivity and device management capabilities provided by the Alice Client Manager. This latest product launch strongly positions Birdstep Technology to be part of the solutions entering into the rapidly evolving market of third generation wireless networks.

“In the emerging markets, it is key for many vendors to offer a complete mobile solution that integrates various components that can facilitate the connection to the available networks,“ said Jørgen Bredesen, CEO for Birdstep. “By offering the marketing leading solution that makes access to wireless data services simple, we position ourselves to partner with the leading providers of connectivity offerings available today in the market.“

The ACE SDK complements the existing Mobile IP SDK making Birdstep the most complete provider of solutions within seamless mobility and ease of connectivity in this emerging multi network operator market. Detailed information on the ACE SDK can be found on our web.
